Three Stars
I didn't know what to expect when I walked into this movie. Episodes I and II were terrible. Episodes IV, V, and VI were good, because they were amazingly iconic, mythological tales. It is these qualities that make Episode III good. In general, this film tells the tale of the fall of young Anakin Skywalker, the birth of his children, and the destruction of the Jedi order at the hands of the evil Darth Vader.
First, the bad things. The dialogue is horrible. Not only are many of the lines corny, but the actors themselves deliver them poorly. And it is not like these are bad actors. The exceptions are Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine, who calmly, gently, and paternally sways Anakin; and Frank Oz as Yoda, who is solidly in possession of his character.
Beyond this stale acting, however, much of the film is well done. The CG environments, battles, and characters are perfect, and used the way they should be - not to be impressive, but to help realize the amazingly fantastic worlds of the Star Wars universe. Also, the computer abilites of ILM greatly contribute to the quality of the lightsaber duels. For example, Obi Wan faces off against one of the films more impressive villains, General Grievous, a four armed (equals four lightsabers) killer robot with a hacking cough.
The best thing about this film is the tragedy aspect of it. There is a great montage sequence in which the Jedi are cut down across the galaxy, as Anakin and a legion of troops burn the temple, slaughtering all they come across - even the children. There is another scene in which the birth of the Skywalker twins is intercut with the surgery in which the badly wounded Anakin (his flesh burned off, his limbs severed) is transformed into the black masked Darth Vader. In the end, this is the conclusion of a story line with its place assured in film history, and it is a worthy completion of the story line.
Coming Disappointments:
Stealth - Why? Whoever signed off on this movie should be stricken from film forever.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith - This could be promising, but ultimately I think it could be just "look at Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie be sexy, with guns". Not enough.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe:
Holy Shit, this looks good. This film looks like it takes some of the ideas of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings stories, and makes them more fantastic. I love these books, and this movie looks amazing.
The Island - Michael Bay should be killed. As should this ... thing.

There's nothing wrong with G-rated movies, as long as there's lots of sex and violence.
